Government Buildings of Nusantara, Indonesia's New Capital

Located in the Central Government Zone of Nusantara (IKN), the new capital city in East Kalimantan, it serves as Indonesia's new administrative center, comprising two main structures:

Istana Negara (State Palace)

Function: Presidential residence, venue for state ceremonies and receptions.

Design: Designed by renowned Indonesian artist Nyoman Nuarta, it blends traditional architecture with the Garuda (mythical eagle) motif, a symbol of national sovereignty.

Status: Construction began in 2022, completed in 2024.

Istana Garuda (Garuda Palace)

Function: Presidential office building and cabinet meeting center.

Feature: A landmark modern glass building shaped like a Garuda in flight. Officially named in July 2024, it hosted the first cabinet meeting in August 2024.

Complex

Surrounded by ministerial office buildings, the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), and judicial complexes.

The entire area is designed with green, smart, and sustainable principles.
